psychedelic-folk band Quilt with which he has been writing, recording, and touring internationally for the past eight years. With Olden Yolk, Butler further explores elements of experimentalism, noise, and traditional folk.

I didn't quite love this as much as the 2018 debut album which swept me off my feet. This is more melancholic, deeper and transitory. But still, I like it. And if anything, Caity gets more a spotlight on this record than Shane and the songs are insular and full of experimentation. Olden Yolk is wonderful.

Shane Butler (Quilt) formed a band with his love interest Caity Shaffer and made great indie rock/pop tunes with lyrics that full of art, poetry and complex human emotions. How to choose a favorite track? Goodness, The epic finale, "Takes One To Know One"? The rollicking "Cut To The Quick"? The folky "Common Ground" and "Vital Sign" featuring the swoony, swaying vocals of Caity? So, so many! But I will choose the ever-lovely "Gamblers On A Dime" which I can listen to constantly!
